Bike To Work

As the nice weather approaches I’d like to start riding my new bike to work, at least periodically.  The job’s only about 3 miles away, it shouldn’t kill me.

Well, I haven’t been on a bike in about 20 years.  Glad I took it for a practice spin this week – a 10 minute trip around the neighborhood had my knees feeling like jelly when I got off!

That’s ok, I’ll work up to it.  Any full time bike commuters out there got advice for me?  Equipment I should absolutely have?  What’s the deal with ipods and headphones, bad idea?

I'm 42 years old and 275 pounds and biked to work this morning. The distance was about 4 miles one way.

I was huffing and puffing by the time I got there...but I got there. It took me about a half hour.

Just go for it. The worst thing that can happen is that you stop and take a break or two on the way.
